This place is locate right downtown. I was invited to give it a try, since it had just opened and was wanting to increase traffic. I had posted it on my stories while giving it a try. They prefaced it by saying that they focused primarily on being more of a social gathering place at night, and more bar than restaurant. Being downtown, parking is limited to the street parking we have, but it’s very accessible by train.
The menu is pretty simple, offering some Japanese fare. We tried some basic things, such as calamari, the beef tataki, sashimi, spicy tuna tartare, salad, and a roll.
For our two appetizers, the calamari was cooked well and tender, very nice and pleasant to eat. The beef tataki was not bad, and extra loaded with some sort of sambal sauce. It wasn’t too spicy for me, but I’m not so sure the flavours went well together with the sambal.
The sushi fare was pretty standard. The rice was a bit on the wetter side than I would have wanted, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. The spicy tuna tartare came with pieces of seaweed which was nice. The eel was also pretty standard fare as well.
One of my favourite bite was their salad. It came with pieces of salmon sashimi and greens, but it came with a wasabi dressing that was very flavourful.
Overall, I had a decent experience at Tokeo Station. The food wasn’t too bad, given that the venue focuses primarily on their night life and entertainment. I’m not sure if I would come back here specifically for food but I could see myself coming here to hang out after work and grabbing some drinks and food (since I typically don’t enjoy regular pub fare).
