A couple of weeks ago I went to Black Pearl for the first time. I had a few days off so I decided to go to a few places that I’ve never been before so I could blog about it. This week was filled with new restaurants and coffee shops! It was a really nice break from home cooking and a good way to try out places I’ve never been to before.

Black Pearl is located on the relatively busy street, 104th. During the summer, it’s busy with the outdoor city market, and all other times of the year, there are tons of restaurants and good eats nearby. As such, parking can be a bit scarce, but it’s right off of Bay/Enterprise LRT station so it’s really easy to get to by transit.

We went on a Wednesday afternoon, and it is recommended to make reservations as it does fill up fast. They aren’t on open table, so you have to call in and make reservations, but they do have some seating up at the bar.

Raspberry Point Oysters

They have 2 dollar Oysters everyday from 4-6, and we just made it in, so we ordered a dozen of their Raspberry Point Oysters. They fly in their seafood straight from the east coast, and it makes it to their warehouse before the ice melts, so everything is very fresh. They usually have anywhere from 20-30 lobsters in their tanks at the back.

We opted to get their seafood tower, which comes with oysters, lobster, dungeness crab, and prawns. It’s one of their more expensive dishes on their menu, at $135. This was a lot of protein and was quite good.

Their oysters comes with a variety of condiments, and you can really mix and match to figure out what combination you like.

I am a bottomless pit, so it probably would have done me some good to get some carbs to fill me up. Next time I come back, I’d probably opt to get one of their pasta dishes. Being the sister restaurant to Cafe Amore, their pastas are actually one of the recommended dishes from our waiter.

Overall, pretty tasty! They do have some lighter fare on the less expensive side, such as their fish tacos, so they do have a little something for everyone. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try! There’s so few places that specialize only in seafood.
