1022 17 Ave SW, Calgary
During my weekend in Calgary, I finally went to all of the places I always wanted to go, among this list, Tubby Dog. Located along the popular 17th ave, and a plethora of eating options, Tubby Dog holds its own. Since 2005, they’ve won multiple awards, and also have been featured on many sources, such as The Globe and Mail, and featured on “You Gotta Eat Here!”
They serve Dogs, Burgers, and Tacos, but of course, I went with one of their signature dogs, the A-Bomb, which has bacon, mayo, mustard, ketchup, chips, topped with nacho cheese.
Along with their hotdogs, they have cartoons, and old arcade games as well. When we went, there were some people trying to beat the high score on some of the machines. Cool and retro vibe.
Overall, The A-bomb was pretty good, but probably not $8.25 dollars good. Size-wise, it’s a pretty small hotdog, and I think I would have preferred to have a Fat Frank from back home. Twice the size, and the meat is better seasoned, and it’s cheaper.
Overall, another Calgary staple, but with the amount of options on 17th ave, I think I’d opt to go somewhere else unless I was really craving a hot dog.
[…] mustard, all on a hot dog. Not bad! But to be honest, I’m a Fat-Franker for life. Click here for my full review on Tubby […]
